“Breaking Paradigms: Towards a Multi-, Inter- and Transdisciplinary Science” In commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of Alexander von Humboldt

When from science we need to solve the complex problems of modern society it is essential to go beyond the boundaries of disciplines and academic fields. Only then, it is possible to achieve innovative scientific results that can be reversed in the quality of life of the human being. From this consideration arises the name proposed for this kolleg: “Breaking Paradigms: Towards a Multi-, Inter- and Transdisciplinary Science”.

During Kolleg researchers from the chemical, biological, physical, mathematical and geological sciences will be exchanging their scientific experiences. This Kolleg aims to create a space for Humboldtians, young doctors in science and young researchers of Latin American for disseminating their results, as well as to create collaborative and cooperative relationships and strengthen the existing one, in order to take steps forward in scientific knowledge within Latin America.

Inspired by the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Alexander von Humboldt, the small group of Humboldtians living in Ecuador will welcome colleagues from Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Argentina, Canadá, USA, Cuba and Ecuador in a nice environment dedicated to the scientific and cultural exchange. The event also has the purpose of creating the space for the dissemination of the programs offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to young doctors in science for conducting their research in leading laboratories in Germany. The Humboldt Kolleg will also attract the attention of many university students from Yachay Experimental Technology Research University, who dream of having a future space in scientific research.
The event is planned for three days, including keynote lectures dictated by relevant German researchers, oral presentations, basically by Humboldtian researchers and poster presentations.
