MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
All materials (text, graphics, etc.) must be submitted electronically. In case of questions concerning the submission, please contact the Editorial Support (Editorial Office) at [email protected]. Registration of the manuscript with Bionatura is equivalent to the author's consent for publication of its content in both printed and electronic version.
Language Assistance
Authors should make sure that the text of the manuscript is prepared in correct English. Authors for whom English is a second language may choose to have their manuscript professionally proof-read and edited before submission or during the review process. First submission
All sections from “Title page” to “Literature Cited” must be submitted as a single file. Figures and Tables should be included (together with their descriptions) at the end of the manuscript.
Revised manuscripts
Manuscripts conditionally accepted (not rejected) must be returned to the Editorial Office within four (review articles) or twelve (research articles) weeks. Returned articles should be corrected according to the Reviewer's suggestions or offer strong arguments why the Publisher's recommendations have been ignored.

The rules are the same as for the first submission, except for the Figures, which should:

· be submitted as .tif, .eps, .xls, .doc, or .jpg .png files. If it is impossible to provide figures in one of the acceptable formats, please contact the Editorial Office;
· be submitted, preferably, at resolutions of 600 dots per inch for line figures and 300 dots per inch for half tones;
· be in CMYK mode rather than RGB (color figures).

Types of Manuscrips
The Journal accepts the following types of manuscripts: reviews (with no fixed length, although they should be concise as possible) and mini-reviews (up to five pages), articles, research papers (with no fixed length, although as concise as possible), short communications (up to three pages) as well as methodological papers. Material submitted to Bionatura will be peer reviewed and have to meet specific requirements concerning substantive and editorial qualities.

Bioethical agreement
If the paper contains any material based on the experiments performed on human beings or animals, a declaration that an appropriate Commission has been notified thereof and approved these experiments, is required.
Review process
Submitted manuscripts which comply with instructions for authors are subject to assessment by reviewers. The editors select reviewers taking into account the topics presented in the article submitted. Independent reviewers evaluate each paper in the double-blind review process, in which authors do not know the identity of their reviewers, nor do the reviewers know the characters of the authors. Reviewers assess the work using the electronic system based on questions prepared for a specific title. Reviewers may also provide individual comments on the article. The paper is accepted for publication after the Editor-in-Chief receives positive opinions of experts.
Ethical Standards and Procedures
Bionatura is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. We follow closely the industry associations, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICJME) and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices to meet these requirements.
Duties and responsibilities of authors
The author is obliged to prepare and send the article in accordance with the requirements set out in the journal Editor. Moreover, the author is required to submit editorial complemented by a statement which will be included: a statement about the originality of the content of the article (work not yet published anywhere), the integrity of the copyrights of others, no conflict of interest or its application, as well as the superior permission to publish an article in the journal. Authors are responsible for disclosing all financial and personal relationships that might bias or be seen to bias their work.
Duties and responsibilities of reviewers
Articles are selected for publication in double-blind selection system and published in an open access system. Reviewer shall review by the electronic system based on questions prepared for a specific title. Reviewer is also possible to send individual comments to be published in the article content.
Duties and responsibilities of editors
Editors are responsible for deciding which of the articles are accepted for publication. Editors act in a balanced, objective and fair way while carrying out their expected duties, without discrimination on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
FOCUS AND REACH
The Bionatura Journal is a specialized, inter-institutional and interdisciplinary medium for the dissemination of scientific and technical developments, technological innovations, and in general, the various topics related to the sectors involved in biotechnology, both in Ecuador and abroad; likewise, the journal constitutes an effective communication mechanism between the different professionals of biotechnology.
It is a non-profit publication. The income obtained by advertising or services rendered will be destined for its operation and development of its editing quality.
It is a quarterly magazine, specializing in issues concerning theoretical, applied, and market development in biotechnology.
It publishes original research articles and other types of scientific articles for consideration by its editorial board, after a peer review process without taking into account the country of origin.
The publication languages are Spanish and English.

COURSE EVALUATION PROCESS
Bionatura magazine uses a "peer review" evaluation system where the double-blind process is guaranteed. The evaluation period will depend on the complexity of the document. Notification will be sent to the author about the status of your shipment within a period not exceeding 90 days.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps in a greater global exchange of knowledge.

The editors of Bionatura Magazine make all the final decisions regarding the publication of the manuscripts. The opinions expressed in the articles and letters in Revista Bionatura represent the points of view of their authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editors, the editorial house or the Editorial Board. The responsibility to ensure the originality of the works, free of plagiarism or fraud, is the authors. Bionatura Magazine will retract any article found that contains elements of plagiarism or cheating.
Privacy and Confidentiality
The editors respect the confidentiality of the authors and the referees concerning the scientific work of the former and the opinions expressed by the latter. As shown in the RMU: "The editors should not reveal any information about the manuscripts-including the time of receipt, the content, the status of the evaluation process, the criticism by the (arbitrators) or their final destination-a no person other than the authors and (arbitrators)."

ENFOQUE Y ALCANCE
- La Revista Bionatura es un medio especializado, interinstitucional e interdisciplinario, para la divulgación de desarrollos científicos y técnicos, innovaciones tecnológicas, y en general, los diversos tópicos relativos a los sectores involucrados en la biotecnología, tanto en Ecuador como en el exterior; así mismo, la revista se constituye en un mecanismo eficaz de comunicación entre los diferentes profesionales de la biotecnología.
- Es una publicación sin ánimo de lucro. Los ingresos obtenidos por publicidad o servicios prestados serán destinados para su funcionamiento y desarrollo de su calidad de edición.
- Es una revista trimestral, especializada en temas concernientes al desarrollo teórico, aplicado y de mercado en la biotecnología.
- Publica artículos originales de investigación y otros tipos de artículos científicos a consideración de su consejo editorial, previo proceso de evaluación por pares (peer review) sin tener en cuenta el país de origen.
- Los idiomas de publicación son el Español e Inglés.

PROCESO DE EVALUACIÓN POR PARES
La revista Bionatura utiliza un sistema de evaluación "por pares" (peer review) donde se garantiza el proceso a doble ciegas. El período de evaluación dependerá de la complejidad del documento. Se enviará notificación al autor sobre el estado de su envío en un plazo no mayor de 90 días.

Esta revista proporciona un acceso abierto inmediato a su contenido, basado en el principio de que ofrecer al público un acceso libre a las investigaciones ayuda a un mayor intercambio global de conocimiento.
LISTA DE COMPROBACIÓN PARA LA PREPARACIÓN DE ENVÍOS
Como parte del proceso de envío, los autores/as están obligados a comprobar que su envío cumpla todos los elementos que se muestran a continuación. Se devolverán a los autores/as aquellos envíos que no cumplan estas directrices.
- El envío no ha sido publicado previamente ni se ha sometido a consideración por ninguna otra revista (o se ha proporcionado una explicación al respecto en los Comentarios al editor/a).
- El archivo de envío está en formato OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF o WordPerfect.
- Siempre que sea posible, se proporcionan direcciones URL para las referencias.
- El texto tiene interlineado sencillo; 12 puntos de tamaño de fuente; se utiliza cursiva en lugar de subrayado (excepto en las direcciones URL); y todas las ilustraciones, figuras y tablas se encuentran colocadas en los lugares del texto apropiados, en vez de al final.
- El texto se adhiere a los requisitos estilísticos y biliográficos resumidos en las Directrices del autor/a, que aparecen en Instruciones.
- Si se envía a una sección evaluada por pares de la revista, deben seguirse las instrucciones en Asegurar una evaluación anónima.

Los nombres y las direcciones de correo electrónico introducidos en esta revista se usarán exclusivamente para los fines establecidos en ella y no se proporcionarán a terceros o para su uso con otros fines.

Política de Conflictos de Intereses
La Política de Conflictos de Intereses adoptada por Revista Bionatura se basa en las recomendaciones de los Requisitos de uniformidad para manuscritos enviados a revistas biomédicas (URM), que estipulan que “todos los participantes en la evaluación por pares y en el proceso de publicación deben declarar todas las relaciones que podrían considerarse como potencial conflicto de intereses”.
En concordancia con los URM, Revista Bionatura, exige a todos los autores y árbitros que declaren explícitamente si existen o no conflictos de intereses potenciales. Cada autor de cada manuscrito presentado como Original Research, Review, Lessons from the Field, Perspective o Viewpoint debe firmar esa declaración. Cualquier conflicto de intereses potencial declarado por el autor se mencionará cuando se publique su artículo en Revista Bionatura. Además, Revista Bionatura publica las afiliaciones institucionales pertinentes de los autores de todos los artículos publicados en la revista.
Revista Bionatura emplea un sistema de arbitraje a doble ciegas y excluye a personas afiliadas a instituciones con las cuales el (los) autor(es) de un artículo en particular esté también afiliado. Los árbitros deben declarar por escrito cualquier conflicto de intereses que pudiera afectar su evaluación de un manuscrito y deberían abstenerse de evaluar manuscritos si lo consideren adecuado.
Revista Bionatura se atiene al requisito de los URM por el cual “los editores que toman las decisiones finales sobre los manuscritos no deben tener ninguna implicación personal, profesional o financiera en ninguna de las cuestiones sometidas a su juicio”.

Los editores de Revista Bionatura toman todas las decisiones finales con relación a la publicación de los manuscritos. Las opiniones expresadas en los artículos y cartas en Revista Bionatura representan los puntos de vista de sus autores, y no necesariamente reflejan los de los Editores, de la casa editorial o del Consejo Editorial. La responsabilidad para asegurar la originalidad de los trabajos, libres de plagio o de fraude, es netamente de los autores. Revista Bionatura retractará cualquier artículo encontrado que contiene elementos de plagio o de fraude.
Privacidad y Confidencialidad
Los editores respetan la confidencialidad de los autores y los árbitros con respecto al trabajo científico de los primeros y las opiniones expresadas por estos últimos. Como se expresa en los URM: “Los editores no deben revelar información alguna sobre los manuscritos—incluidos el momento de recepción, el contenido, el estado del proceso de evaluación, la crítica por parte de los (árbitros) o su destino último—a ninguna persona aparte de los autores y (árbitros)”.
